First off CONGRATS all, May saw a great increase in posts and a ton of activity on all levels and in all regions! This is our first month doshing out awards, so please be patient with us… the jury took a bit to deliberate.
Before we announce, please be aware that you can only receive a specific award ONCE. You can recieve more than one award, but they have to be in a different category. Once the year’s up, slates clean again. Cool?
Also, we will be reviewing posts by MONTH. That means that most of our judging on each category will be for the current month. We’re looking for the best trip journal for the month of May, for example, not the best trip journal blog. Keep that in mind and be sure to try to post on all sorts of stuff relevant to our prize list.
Each year, starting with September 2008, World Kayak will be rewarding its online community activity… this year with a dooozy of a prize package. The Best Blog of the year will go to that blogger who shows all of those attributes that make for a great blog, specifically those attributes World Kayak is rewarding with it’s monthly blog awards (blog presentation, trip descriptions, instructional advice, community spirit, social awareness and more). 
Awarded each month till September to the best new blog at Worldkayakblogs.com. Judging will include layout, quality of posts, subject matter and general community spirit points… 
Living vicariously though the words, photos and videos of others is something we all enjoy. Smith and World Kayak will be rewarding all those who post the exciting details of your paddling trips. Share your stories… the rivers you visit, the cultures you experience and the people you meet… bring it on! 
American Whitewater and World Kayak wish to encourage conversations revolving around conservation and social responsibility. Encouraging this, we are offering an award of a free AW membership to those leading blog conversations on river conservation and any other social awareness subject matters.
