Brian Pickett was keeping it sexy and green at the GNAR on Saturday (9-6-08). Scott Sidener, Steve Moore, Matt Scruggs, and I had a fun day in the Narrows. Matt joined my “Oops I Ran Sunshine” Club, but had a better line that only resulted in his spray skirt getting blown on the landing. He was able to paddle his swamped boat to the river right bank after the rapid. Scott has a swim at Corneal Dick’s. I flipped in the undercut at Frank again… Came into the boof fast, but rolled up fine. I also did a little Hometown Throwdown in the top hole of Neis’ Pieces. I rolled up fine and finished out the rest of the slide backwards / spinning around forward on the landing in the pool. It was not the most stellar day for anyone in our group, but we had fun and were glad to have a safe trip. You must always stay on your toes in the GNAR, that is one thing I am learning from my three runs thus far.
We also had a blast running with Jen (my fiancee) and Jeff (my brother-in-law) on the Upper Green. This was Jen’s first time paddling the Green. It was awesome to lead her down and watch her get ran over by a tubber! After the Upper run, Jeff hiked up to toilet bowl and Hammer Factor to fire that up with us as we finished our Narrows run! Good times and great to see some other paddling friend’s out there as always!
