Big Rock is Back in Action!

Big Rock AW Beta:

Thanks to a couple of our local paddlers’ (Ezra Baker and Mike Patterson) hard work, Big Rock on the Nolichucky River is yet again one of the South’s best play spots between 400-900 CFS.  Ezra and Mike were able to move the ‘fu’ rock out of the hole when the Noli was very low (+/- 110 CFS) last Monday (8-25-08).  The rock removal from the hole has once again made the hole deep for throwing loops and cartwheels.  No more worrying about bumping your head when you flip in the hole or smashing your feet when you throw down!  I was even able to throw my first loops on Sunday afternoon in the hole!!!  I was pumped to say the very least…  The level was around 750 CFS.

I hope to put together a small Hometown Throwdown at this venue next spring for all of our local Tri-Cities paddlers!  Contact me if you are interested in helping to get this event planned and kicked off.

I hope to see you at Big Rock! :-)
