Dollywood Throwdown with the Russian National Theatre

I had so much fun at the Charlotte / Tri-Cities Hometown Throwdown on Saturday that I had to continue spreading the fun on Sunday in…

My sister, Erin Bradley-Weatherford, has finally recovered from her sinus reconstruction surgery that she had over a week ago.  To celebrate her successful recovery we (Jeff, Erin, and I) decided to head to Dollywood for a day of fun this past Sunday (5/4/08)!  We just had no ideal how much fun the day was going to be…

Let me set the stage for you.  We rode some rides and ate some good food.  Then we decided to watch a few shows.  The last show for the day that we decided to watch was the Russian National Theatre Show (http://www.dollywood.com/shows/show_detail.aspx?AttractionID=900).  We got great seats on the second row and I was seated on the end of the row.  Jeff, Erin, & I were enjoying the show when all of the sudden all the guys in the show disappeared off the stage and all was left were 4 girls performing in the show.  They began to look into the audience and I instantly knew this was going to be an audience participation act coming up…

Knowing that I was close to the front on the end of the row, and I am 6′-4″ which makes me stick up quite higher than most; I knew I was going to be an easy target.  I quickly shrank down in my seat and did not make eye contact with them.  Well as luck would have it one of the Russian girls came over to pull me up out of my seat to dance.  Jeff started cheering me on to get up and join her.  I tried to say No, but she was having nothing of it…  She pulled me out of my seat and up onto the stage in front of over 500 people.  When I got up on stage Jeff screamed, “Keep it pro!!!”  I mouthed back to him, “I hate you!”  By this time I am sure my face was as red as a stop sign and my sister was rolling in the floor from laughter.

The girl put me into position to her side with our arms locked at the elbow and I knew it was time to crank my soul-ja-boy & throw it down…  I looked at my dance partner and said, “I can’t dance…” an she said, “Just listen to me. You’ll do great!”  The next thing I knew we were twirling and spinning around doing turtle-tu’s in a Russian type hoe down with three other guys that got pulled up on stage by other girls!  The crowd was cheering us on with a thunderous applause and yelling during our routine.  I don’t know how long the dance lasted, but it felt like an eternity.  When we finished we all gave a bow and received an awesome applause for our efforts.  I was escorted off the stage by my dance partner and returned to my seat in which everyone that was around us gave compliments on my performance.  After the show, as we were exiting the theater, several people were kidding me with stellar reviews and asking for my autograph.  It was quite fun, but only added to my embarrassment.

We decided to leave the park about 10 minutes later and just walk through the parking lot to the car for some exercise.  As we were walking back to the car a nice older couple walked over to us and said that I did a great job up on stage.  Well that just put Jeff and Erin in tears, because Jeff said I am a legend now in Dollywood.  Good times, good times!

Keep it pro & sexy in all things that you throw down!
