Well for all of you who did not get to make it to Asheville Pizza Co. last night, you missed a great time. Double H. J. was in the house! The Pro’s Pro was actually there hanging out with us during the event. I got an autograph and a photo with HeeHaw, which made the trip worth it in itself. The dude is hilarious! He plays the part live as well as he does in the films. There is just nothing else I can say about HeeHaw except, “He’s a Pro”!
Anyway, on to the rest of the evening’s events… Andrew Lowd, Matt Dalton, and I headed out of E-Town a little after 6:00 p.m. to show up for the premiere early to grab some grub and fellowship with some other paddlers. Andrew is still recovering from his knee surgery, so I think he was pretty stoked to get out of the house for a while. On the way down, we all three had some great conversation about our sport and when we pulled into Asheville it began to rain, so that got me and Matt pumped for this weekend’s kayaking adventures!
Once we got to the Asheville Pizza Company we went in for some supper. They have a great pizza! It was some good eating for sure! They have some really cool motif that decorates the dinning area. We sat at the Monty Python’s Search for the Holy Grail table. The Black Night joined us for dinner as he sat upon the half wall beside our table. While we were finishing up eating, Shane Wilson from RWO and his lovely lady, Hannah, arrived for some dinner and the premiere. It was really fun to get to hang out with them during the night. Many other super talented and skilled paddlers showed up for the evening’s events: Pat Keller, Chris Galloway, Chris Gragtmans and many more. It was cool hanging out with all of these guys.
The movie was very good. It is definitely a paddlers film more than a river film. The movie is centered more about the paddlers featured in the film than the actual runs and play spots. I would have liked to seen some titles of the rivers during the paddle porn, but the movie was very well produced and edited. The zombie clips were funny and way over done! HeeHaw had some stellar performances in his segments as always, but once again the boy’s from Effort did not put any of HeeHaw’s killer throw down moves… What is up with that?
One of my favorite segments of the Movie was Colin Kemp’s spot. They begin his segment with an interview in a vehicle early in the morning. He is talking about some crazy mango dish that he wished he had in college. It was funny! Colin also had some great paddling video in his segment too… Sweet!!
A big thanks goes out to Spencer and his crew for putting on such a fun event with a very good movie!
Below is a link to some of the photos from the night, which includes my priceless pic. with HeeHaw!
