Sermon on the Raft

I recently had the privilege of getting to prepare and deliver a sermon at my church - First United Methodist Church.  I got the sermon ideal from Wayne Dickert at the NOC, from his River of Life Ministry.  He provided me notes and mentoring for preparing my sermon, which I was very thankful.  I was very nervous when the day came to deliver the message, but the good Lord, my family, and friends comforted me.  I have a whole new respect for preachers after completing this task.  I have uploaded the sermon to YouTube, because I have a lot of friends and family requesting to see it.  Below are the links to access the videos:

Life’s a Trip, Bring a Paddle - Part 2

You can also type in “Sermon on the raft” in the YouTube search engine and it will pull these two videos up for you.  The total message is about 15 minutes long.  Below are some quotes I received as wonderful feedback from some friends regarding the sermon:

  • “Hey Man, Jo Anne Pasqua told me you blew ‘em out of the water (pun intended :)  yesterday in your sermon. Way to go!!! I knew you and the Lord could do it. Stuart was singing your praises too. Wish I could have been there. Hopefully next time.  Big Boomin’ Blessings!” - Wayne Dickert (AKA Wayner)

  • For those of you who could not make it to E-town for church this morning, you missed a real blessing in the right reverend Wesley Bradley’s message.  I’ve got to admit - it was the first time I’ve ever seen a Hyside raft in a sanctuary (the first time that sanctuary had ever seen one too I’d bet!). Also a first for me to see an entire sermon preached by a guy wearing a helmet and pfd. The rope throw was another novelty that did not disappoint!  My children have never paid such attention to a sermon in all their days. We got home and they remembered what Wesley had shared and we even expanded on the theme to try and identify what gear Paul might have used in place of spiritual armor (Eph. 6:10 and on) if folks had been more familiar with rafters than soldiers.  Way to go Wesley - we enjoyed it and are proud of you.” - Stuart Everett <><

  • Great job with your “Sermon on the Raft”  If you want to give up your “dangerous drafting” job I’m sure you could get a job as a raft guide or a preacher!  Thanks for the invite. I enjoyed being at your church, seeing you and friends from the river and from your church.” - Jo Anne Pasqua (AKA Jo Momma from Buffalo Mountain Camp)

Thanks for all the kind words and encouragement…  But I was only the messenger, all the glory goes to the Big Guide in the Sky!!  Blessings to all in 2008!
