2007 Green River Narrows Race Event Info and Invite

 GNAR Race Logo

There has been quite a bit of talk on LVM TV and boatertalk about possible parking issues for spectators during the race this year.  Several of the race organizers and participates have asked that we (the spectators) should car pool as much as possible down to the Pulliam Creek trail head.  Some members of our local paddling club (APEs), a few friends and I are planning on meeting at the Cracker Barrel (on the Upward Road Exit off of I-26) at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday morning (11/3/07).  We are going to eat a good hearty breakfast at Cracker Barrel and plan on leaving the Cracker Barrel parking lot in car pool around 9:00 a.m. (ish) in route to the Pulliam Creek Trail Head for the hike into the Narrows.  The hike takes approximately 45-60 minutes down into the Narrows, which should put us in the Narrows before 10:30 a.m.  Arriving this early in the Narrows will allow us to find a good spot to watch the race and will beat the mass of the crowd.  Check out this link for additional info on the trail and directions to the Narrows:

Anyone who wants to join us is welcome to eat, car pool and hike in with us!  So come on out and join us Saturday for a day you will not soon forget!!  Check out the link below to Live Maps with the pinpoint locations of Cracker Barrel, Trail Head, and Rapids you will encounter on the hike up to Gorilla once you are in the Narrows:

The Weather Forecast for Saturday is calling for Sunny Skies with very light winds and high temps. in the low 60’s - low temps. in the mid 30’s; so dress accordingly.  Keep in mind that the hike is over 2.5 miles, so make sure you bring a water bottle and some snacks.  If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact me @ wbradley@dbconstllc.com or 423-647-1321.  Please RSVP with our group if you are planning on meeting up with us at Cracker Barrel at 8:00 a.m. by typing your name in a comment to this post.  This will give us a role call on how many people to expect.

I hope to see you at Gorilla on Saturday!
