Southampton’s Playspot
16 11 2008Having recently relocated from South Wales to the South of England (Southampton)- and lamenting the lack of creeks here- I was keen to find a local playspot for after work and weekend fun and frolics. I emailed Dan from Woodmill Outdoor Centre and he told me about a play spot in town and right next to the Centre (and shop). It works either side of low tide. As demonstrated by the photo, when i visited, it was high tide and hence covered.
Photos (L to R): At high tide, the feature is not there; WOC- paddle to the right to playspot
Put in is at the car park to the left of the Canoe Shop - paddle around the back of the centre to the hole/wave. I’ve been told it is possible to get some blunts there. I also heard on the grapevine that Hurley is less than an hours drive away; that combined with some descent local surf (30 min away), makes Kate a very happy lady. Now….if i can just find a place to stash my kayaks & kit locally, I’m golden. Anyone got space in their garage?
