Day 2; ICE
2 04 2008Day two of the ICE consisted of demonstration of on-river teaching, modeling strokes and skills and leadership. It was a long day on the river and all students lead part of the Class III trip. We also has a chance to learn new, advanced skills for our own benefit, such as cross bow-draw ferries and backwards ferries. Sam was filming so we had a chance to assess our teaching and personal skills in a video analysis session later in the day. When we were off the water we sat our final exam and had our individual assessment with Sam. Phew, I passed. This was by far the hardest course I’ve ever taken and I highly recommend taking it. By learning to teach a skill you will become the master of it.
Photos (L to R): Ball play to warm-up; Ariana and Matt using a rope warm-up game; Matt teaching us on the river, with Dave H pretending to be a waterfall-lusting-gnarr-gnarr loving “beginner”. Nice acting Dave.
