World Kayak Hometown Throwdowns are fun, easy to run and low stress events set up to encourage both community activity (playing together) and skills development.

Get out and Play!
For those who want to simply have fun, encourage each other to step up their playboating skills, the format for our Throwdowns is simple:  Two rides and you go home!  You get points for EVERYTHING!  From the front surf, to loops, from a wathunk (awkward/fast flip upstream totally by accident) to panams (if ya got’m) the scoring is simple and everyone has a shot.  We let the local ambassador set up divisions so everyone competes with folks of similar levels.  This is NOT a pro event, but we do invite pros to come out and coach and score… don’t be surprised to see one or two hangin about!

Prizes Raffled!
We do keep score, but do not reward prizes for place!  We raffle our prizes off at the end of every Throwdown.  This year we have boxes of fun prizes.  From sunglasses to industry swag, each of our ambassadors has an full box of prizes to give away!

Points Series in 2011
This year we are enabling you to to be ranked on local, regional and national levels.  Our unique system uses both participation and place in events to determine rank.   This system will only be available to those paddlers who want to be WK Ranked Members, those with competitive goals set.  To be a registered member, you will need to fill in the WK Member form and pay an annual fee of $10.

For Community Ambassadors – An event in a box!
WK provides organizers with a full ‘event in a box’ kit including rules, scoresheets, prizes and much more enabling anyone to set one up. Better yet, gone is the ‘full weekend of logistics’ mentality as these events run over a couple hours max. Prizes are raffled off so that the competitive angst and walls are taken down… and the only thing left is friendly competition and skills development. Event formats include our freestyle throwdown and Slalom Survivor, a simple obstacle course type race.
