Hometown Throwdown Competition & Freestyle Series

FREESTYLE RODEO
These events will take place at either the Stonycreek Playpark at Greenhouse Park on Tire Hill Road in Johnstown PA or at the “Beach Hole” which is approximately ½ mile from the regular Stonycreek River Canyon Put-in depending on the water level. 600cfs up to 800cfs it will be the beach hole, 800cfs + the location will be the playpark. This is a fun, friendly, open competition. There will be categories for all skill levels of boaters from those making their first flat-spins to those throwing McNasties and Phonix Monkeys.

BOATERCROSS
In addition to the Freestyle events each event day will also include PlayboaterX races either through the playpark or at the Showers Rapid. BoaterX races will consist of Heats of 4-5 Boaters going head to head through a series of required eddies with the top 2 or 3 from each heat moving on to the next until the final championship heat is determined. Again this is a friendly race series and all boaters are welcome. We will have has many classes as we can based on # of participants.

• 1st Event : Saturday March 17, 2012 Registration at 10:00 Event start time / 11:00

• 2nd Event : Saturday March 31, 2012 Registration at 10:00 Event start time / 11:00

• 3rd Event : Saturday April 14, 2012 Registration at 10:00 Event start time / 11:00

• 4th Event : Saturday April 28, 2012 Registration at 11:00 Event start time / 11:00

• 5th Event : STONYCREEK RENDEZVOUS Saturday May 19, 2012 : BoaterX is held at Showers Rapid Registration 9-10 Race start immediately after. This gives you plenty of time to boat the rest of the canyon before the Rodeo. Rodeo registration can be completed in the A.M to save time or hopefully you pre-registered online. Rodeo will start at 2:30 to guarantee that the release water will be there for the event which will be held at the playpark.

• 6th Event : Saturday June 2, 2012 Registration 10:00 Event Start time / 11:00

At the June event we will also crown the series Champion(s) Based on the accumulated Point total from all the events. We will have 3 Titles Best Combined, Best BoaterX, Best Freestyle for the series.

We’re working on some cool ideas for trophies for the series winners so be sure to show up and participate.

Weather & Water Levels Permitting we may look to add an event or two as the season goes on, but the schedule above should allow for great water levels for each event.
