Boise 2009 Hometown Throwdown #3

19 July 2009 One Comment

Both weather and action at Boise’s 3rd Hometown Throwdown for 2009 was HOT! This has to be
the most fun I’ve had at a Throwdown for a few reasons.

1. We had the new 2010 Star and AllStar to check out – in a word…SWEET, I WANT ONE! (Ok,
that was four, but that’s the best I could do). Mine will be here later this summer – it’s hard to be patient!
2. The 15 participants were all jazzed up and just a great bunch of people.
3. 9 year-old Hayden Voorhees rocked the house!
4. Did I mention I am excited about the new Stars??

One of the best things about the evening was the unexpected appearance of one of our regulars at the Throwdowns and a paddling buddy of ours. Sixteen-year-old CJ was in a very serious car accident on the 4th of July and has been in the hospital since. But Thursday night he got a ‘get-out-of-the-hospital-for-4-hours-pass’ to watch the TD and everyone was really excited to
see him OK. Also still out on injured reserve from the accident was Tanner and Seth – looking
forward to having them back soon as well – We miss you guys!

Once again we had great volunteers (Thanks Scott, Micah, Tim and CJ).

We had a bunch or raft guides from Cascade show up and compete – great bunch of guys.

Everyone was stoked to take a spin in the new 2010 Star and AllStar demos that ALpenglow sent
out. A bunch of kids were untying them from the trailer before Tim got out of the van. I don’t think the boats sat more than 30 seconds on the shore at a time – just time enough to change paddlers.

Enjoy the video from the evening!
