Colorado Hometown Throwdown Wrap Up
By colin • Jul 10th, 2008 • Category: Feature Story, WK Hometown Throwdowns
The Golden Community Kayak Rodeo Series was a smashing success. In 2008,
we put the ‘unity’ in the ‘Community’ of kayaking and local businesses.
With a huge spectator turn out and an increase in community businesses
partnering with us, we expect an even bigger and better series next
year. Watch the video from the Denver Post here and see if you are in
it:

The kayak from Confluence Kayaks went to: Sarah Dodge
The kayak from Dagger / WaveSport went to: Christine Clark
The paddle went to: Matt Ryan
The winners won their prizes by finishing at the top of their division
then by random drawing.
So everyone needs to come out and compete next year and give yourselves
a shot at some great prizes! Thanks to Lori Kingsbury for getting the
majority of the restaurants (and lingerie shop) to partner with us this
year along with a myriad of organizational tasks. The same thanks goes
to Christy Mullins for her admin endeavors too! And special thanks for
help from Laurie Maciag, Megan Laire, and Len Eckstein for doing all the
graphic work including the fantastic, welded, river rock trophies!
Colorado Whitewater deserves thanks for giving us additional resources
too.
So there’s a lot more water left to paddle so get to your local shop get
your gear, and then if you are hungry, need hardware, lingerie, pet
products, etc. visit our sponsors below.

Even though Joint Juice couldn’t make it with a tent, just about
everyone got to try their product over a 3 week period!
Next year we’d like to partner with even more sponsors from the local
community contributing products and samples or their wares. So if you
have any suggestions, let us know and SYOTR! — Greg Kyle
