Eugene Throwdown #2 Fun Times
By Dave Villalobos • Jun 6th, 2008 • Category: Festival Coverage, WK Hometown Throwdowns
The first Throw down on un-chlorinated water was a hoot! Eugene had 10 total participants at 24/7 and a total of 30+ spectators. Spirits were high, even though the weather did not cooperate, but what kayaker is afraid of getting wet? We are hopeful that June’s event will be even bigger and better, Roaring Rapid Pizza thinks so… they just donated three large pizzas to the remainder of the throw downs here in Eugene… If nothing else come enjoy food, friendly people and of course… Kayaking.
Photos were taken by Ben Asbury: University of Oregon Journalism major… we look forward to seeing a photo essay and story showcased within a local paper in the weeks to follow…
The results are as follows…
1st Ed “El Diablo” Fredette
2nd Sam Humphreys
3rd Simon Haniland
4th Galen Griffin
Women’s We need more ladies in the mix.. Althea’s gonna take it all every throw down!
Althea Sullivan
A special thanks goes out to al the volunteers that helped… Dave Zinn, Conor Ross, Alex Fong and Philp Gordon (Judges)
Remember the next event is going to be at Cotton Candy June 26th registration is at 5:30… the site may shift to 24/7 due to water levels… the Cascades are still over 200% average annual snow-pack! Happy Boating!
