WK wants to cover YOUR festival

As part of our new WK Event Coverage initiative, we welcome all those hosting festivals to send us a line!  We invite you to set up a festival blogspot here at Worldkayakblogs.com and start posting up info.  Festivals are key to our communities and also very important in the attraction of attention to our sport… they show excitement, social activity and showcase the fun we have together.  Covering your event not only shows this, but also shows folks what they missed!  Showing them what they missed attracts further participation the following event! 

All festivals covered on our blogs will automatically feed here to our Event coverage blogspot/web site…

James is known for having a unique place in whitewater. The founder of Kayak Futaleufu and a former partner in Liquid Skills, James (aka "Pollo") has been around the paddling world for many a year. James currently is the director of World Kayak in hopes of aiding a significant growth through community activity world wide!

• About the WK Hometown Throwdowns

  The WK Hometown Throwdowns are a series of FUN events aimed at bringing communities of recreational boaters together in the spirit of simple competition. Based on the legendary Maryland Chute Outs, these events allow for simple scoring and keep things light and fun. Points for front surfs, wathunks, paddle waves and the standard playboating moves make this fun for all. The categories allow for any one to do well and we all judge each other. Prizes are not given to top rides, but are raffled off to all participants like door prizes. We had over $150K in prizes donated to these events by our sponsors in 2008. This keeps the focus on participation, learning skills, bragging rights and taking the wave or hole for a few hours a month. 2008 saw 63 events across 3 continents. 2009 will see twice that.   This blog/website will be home to all our event coverage. We will be hosting our World Kayak Hometown Throwdowns, 61 fun competitions in 13 regions across North America. We will also have a team covering the upcoming Pro circuit here in North America and the World Cup in Europe.
