Our last throwdown broke the BWW (Bad Weather Wednesday) curse! We had a great turn out an a little bit more water than we have had this season. Charlie Albright was seen in a boat newer than an RPM, and it looked like he enjoyed it. He also had the most unique vessel for the contest. He managed to spin his way into 6th place in a tube! That is some serious skill. The ladies had another great showing and Gayle graced us with her boating prowess and took second …

Stonycreek Rendezvous is fast approaching and is less than a week away. For 2012 the Rendezvous will have a full 500cfs release on top of natural flows. With the water that’s in the river now and coming in the forecast it should be an amazing weekend of boating, friends, and competition. The ThrowDown will GoDown on May 19. The event will feature a Freestyle competition and a Playboater cross race. Both events will be held at the Greenhouse Park Whitewater Park on Tire Hill Road in Johnstown PA.

I will be working with Riversport to bring you a great weekend of Jackson Kayak Demo’s at the Stonycreek Rendezvous the weekend of May 18 – 20. Recent rains and a guaranteed release will ensure great water levels for this totally FREE event. Anyone wishing to demo the new goods will have access to every whitewater boat in the Jackson line-up with a few of the flatwater/fishing boats available as well. Free demos are for the kayak park only. I must admit, I am a little biased in my love …
Another cold weather wed in Reno, oh well.
We had a great turnout this week and an even better time. Thanks to the sponsors and Reno Mountain Sports for providing the food and drinks. GoPro has come through with their sponsorship so we put together a video of the throwdown this week. Enjoy.

Low water didn’t dampen any spirits and the race saw a field of 43 paddlers battle it out in short and long boat classes. Master of Safety Walt Augustine even managed to avoid last place paddling his shredder to a time of 21.16 , while experienced racer Jason Beakes took home 1st in a green boat …
The Western PA Region of World Kayak is proud to partner up with the organizers of the annual Isaac Ludwig Top Yough Race. Isaac was a good friend of mine and many who paddle in the area. IR front man Jon Harmon ( race organizer ) and the Ludwig family have graciously agreed to open the race to the series and we truly appreciate their generosity. We paddle this event with heavy hearts for the great boater and friend Isaac was to all who had the good fortune to know …
Mother Nature lent a hand and dropped over an inch of rain on the Stonycreek Watershed, bringing the river up from a dismal 3.1 feet on the gauge and what would have been a rock banging fest and provided over 1400cfs bringing the Whitewater Playpark on the Stonycreek River to a great playboating level. With our new format for the 2012 season we had both a freestyle event and a playboater cross race through the playpark. 9 competitors came out to play in the rain, with only seven competing in …
