2016 Reno Throwdown #4

As the snow in the Sierras started melting and filling our rivers we transitioned from freestyle to creek racing for our Reno HTTDs.  Last Wednesday saw a fun crew take 2 runs down a 2-3 min course on the Truckee River’s Floriston Rapids.  Colin and I set up a fun course that involved a switch section and tough S-Turn maneuver.  Toby kept things going as the sun was setting and everyone improved on their second run over their first.

2016 Steelhead Falls Huck-Fest

Sunday we got together at Steelhead Falls for some hucking good times.  The forecast was for rain, but it turned out dry and pleasant.  The flow was the lowest I have ever seen at 580 cfs, which provided for forgiving drops.  Special recognition to Aaron Anderson who made his first waterfall drop, and also to Scott and Joan for pictures and video.

Hometown Throwdown #1

Local boaters have been warming up in the pool this winter. To kick things off, our first hometown throwdown took place at the Paul Stock Aquatic Center. This event began with a short introduction of the competition layout and rules.

Pool Sessions are back!

Starting Sunday, June 5th, kayakers will have access to the Leavenworth City Pool from 4:00-5:30 pm every Sunday through the end of August. The cost is $5 for pool access. There may or may not be boats available for use so it is always a good idea to bring your own gear, especially since that is what you will be going down the river in! Everyone is welcome so bring your friends, bring your kids, bring your mom! All participants under the age of 18 will need to have a parent or guardian PRESENT in order to participate.
