APEs Advanced Creeking Clinic with Leland Davis

Refine your creeking skills from the author of the Creeking Bible! (Registration Deadline—April 17, 2016) Appalachian Paddling Enthusiasts (APEs) is pleased to announce another of its Paddle with the Pros clinics, this time by hosting an Advanced Creeking Clinic with Leland Davis.  Leland has been teaching people to kayak for over 20 years.  In 2005, he became one of the first instructors to offer creeking-specific clinics, and he has since lead creeking clinics and adventure paddling trips across the US, in Mexico, and in Chile.  He’s the author of two whitewater guidebooks, ‘The River Gypsies’ Guide to North America’ and ‘North Carolina Rivers & Creeks,” and was the original founder of the Green River Race.

APEs Intermediate Creeking Clinic with Leland Davis

Learn to creek boat from the author of the Creeking Bible! (Registration Deadline—April 16, 2016) Appalachian Paddling Enthusiasts (APEs) is pleased to announce another of its Paddle with the Pros clinics, this time by hosting an Intermediate Creeking Clinic with Leland Davis.  Leland has been teaching people to kayak for over 20 years.  In 2005, he became one of the first instructors to offer creeking-specific clinics, and he has since lead creeking clinics and adventure paddling trips across the US, in Mexico, and in Chile.  He’s the author of two whitewater guidebooks, ‘The River Gypsies’ Guide to North America’ and ‘North Carolina Rivers & Creeks,” and was the original founder of the Green River Race. This one day course is designed for the intermediate level aspiring creek boater.  No previous creeking experience is necessary although strong intermediate kayaking skills (CL 3+) and a solid roll are required.  The course will take place on a river similar to Wilson’s Creek in difficulty and specific location will be determined as we get closer to the date

Jerry’s Baddle

Jerry’s Baddle is a dual sport race that began in 2006 to honor a good friend, Jerry Beckwith, who had been diagnosed with ALS. The race was born out of a desire to keep his spirit and passion alive by raising money to help fight the disease that took his life and to foster the community he loved.

APEs Freestyle Fundamentals Clinic with Stephen Wright

A pool session with the Hobbit King to improve your freestyle kayaking bag of tricks! (Registration Deadline—Mar 23, 2016) Appalachian Paddling Enthusiasts (APEs) is pleased to announce another of its Paddle with the Pros clinics with Stephen Wright.  Jackson Team member, Stephen, is a 4-time U.S. National Freestyle Champion, took 3 rd place in the World Championships in both 2009 and 2011, and was the Pan American Champion in 2011.

It is the Jackson Action Wagon’s 10 year anniversary in 2016!  The JAW is happy to celebrate a decade of providing FREE JK demos on our traveling showcase trailer. I am now taking suggestions for what JK whitewater, fishing/hunting , recreation/touring, kids kayaks or SUP’s you would like to see stocked in the 2016 J.A.W

Pool Sessions

The boating community in Cody is on the rise! This year, with the approval of  bi-monthly pool sessions at the local Recreation Center, our paddling community has continued to flourish. Every week, new faces of young paddlers are beginning to appear. With the support from our veteran paddlers, our beginners are using the winter months to develop new techniques, and learn how to roll.

APEs Downriver Freestyle Jam Session with Pat Keller‏

You are not Pat Keller, but you can paddle with him on the Nolichucky Gorge during NoliFest ! (Registration Deadline—Mar 26, 2016) Appalachian Paddling Enthusiasts (APEs) is pleased to announce another of its Paddle with the Pros clinics with Pat Keller.  Pat is a Liquid Logic Factory Team paddler and one of the most well known iconic figureheads in our sport today.  Pat’s paddling portfolio is filled with first D’s, inspiring the old-school renaissance, expeditions and awards like: Canoe & Kayak’s Male Paddler of the Year, Multiple Green Race Championships and ‘Rey del Rio’ Waterfall World Championship title. This one day clinic is designed for the intermediate/advanced boater and will focus on downriver freestyle techniques (Get ready for lots of rocks spins, splats and eddy line tricks).  The jam session will be held on the Nolichucky Gorge in Erwin, TN. We will meet at USA Raft at 11am and should be done by late afternoon.  Participants should be comfortable on class III-IV water and have a reliable roll

Hometown Throwdown at the Muddy Rivers Festival 2016

Come join us during our 3rd Muddy Rivers Festival for your next Hometown Throwdown.  The Throwdown will be held at the take out at Spring Creek Kayak Camp, located at 2947 Spring Creek Rd., Cookeville, TN.  There will be free prizes given away for all participants in the Hometown Throwdown.
