Bend Whitewater Park from the Air

Looking downstream at the BWP the safe passage for floaters is on the left, the four surf features are in the center and a wildlife preserve is on the right.  We are looking at the end of August or early September for opening to the public.  The lower construction bridge needs to be removed and park landscaping finished.  All four surf features are bladder controlled and there are also diverters controlling the flow into each channel.  This will all be computer controlled and the Bend Parks and Recreation Department is recruiting for a River Recreational Specialist (Wave Master) to oversee all park operations and maintenance.  This posting ends on 7/6 and can be found at their website  http://www.bendparksandrec.org/info/About_Us/employment/Job_Openings/ .

APEs 4th of July Watauga Run & Campout

Mark Your Calendars for the 4th of July Weekend (July 3-5, 2015) Come camp and paddle with us on Friday & Saturday night and stay down on the cool banks of the Watauga River! Normally the lake is backed up to this campground with flat still water. But with the lake down it flows fast and cold just like the upper part of the river right by this campground.

Chasing the Wolf

Just north of Pagosa Springs on the way up Wolf Creek pass is a sweet little drop named Wolf Creek Falls.

This has been a good month for paddling – ok, what month isn’t a good month for paddling?!?  The James River has been low but the Lower James through downtown Richmond has retained adequate levels for padding.  I just read a recap of the Coastals trip to paddle the Yough, Lower Big Sandy, and other rivers to our north
