First evening paddle of the year

Well spring is in the air, and so is daylight. Got out on Thursday for the first after work paddle of the year. Just did play session at the Osbourne wave.

EJ Returns to the Motherland to do Paddling Clinics on the Potomac

Eric “EJ” Jackson will be in the DC area the weekend of May 1st to conduct three very special clinics on the Potomac River. These three clinics will be open to all skill levels; just have your own boat and gear. There may be some Jackson Kayaks for use as well.

Powell River Cleanup

Volunteers needed for March 28 Powell River cleanup in Appalachia, VA. Volunteers are needed for a regional stream cleanup on Saturday, March 28, beginning at 10 a.m. at the Powell River Trailhead in the town of Appalachia.

Bend Whitewater Park

Painting by David Kinker www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Tb4fEvAtY4&feature=player_embedded The construction of Bend’s new whitewater park is on schedule to be finished with the in-water components by April 15 when the irrigation season begins.  The work is going at a blistering pace and the channels are taking form.  I hope to hold a few HTTDs this summer on the new play features.  This will be a top of the line play park with 4 fully adjustable features.  Watch the video to see the progress.

The Claiborne County Tourism Commission is hosting a 12 mile kayak and canoe race on the Powell River in Tazewell, Tennessee on May 2, 2015 . The Powell River is a Class 1 free-flowing river. The event course is through a very rural area of the Cumberland Mountains There will be 10 race categories
