North Esk River Race 2014 – – It’s Back!

Last years North Esk River Race brought 32 kayakers to race on the grade 3/4 section of the North Esk. After registration the racing began with the Intermediate category (grade 2/3) who raced from above Rock Garden to above Rocks of Solitude. The fastest time down this course last year was 5:00 minutes set by Jamie Peden, with the fastest female time being 6:37 minutes set by Jessi Thornton

Costa Rica may have the best kayak ramp ever!

A coalition of local kayak enthusiasts designed and built Costa Rica’s first kayak ramp which was installed and tested today in Chilamate, Sarapiqui (outside Chilamate Rainforest Eco Retreat). The ramp will be a feature at the Sarapiqui River Festival this coming Sunday November 24th! It is portable and will be available for competitions and kayak encounters in the future. PURA VIDA!!

A great weekend at the Chattahochee River Games!

Bryan Bonner gets ready for his turn in the freestyle event It all started Thursday afternoon when I texted Rick Thompson to see if he knew anyone heading down to the games.

Construction is Underway

the work has begun While construction is underway for the in-stream improvements at the Whitewater Park near Smelter Rapids, the City is working with a design team to develop the shoreline amenities to complete the project at Whitewater Park.  Please join us for a community visioning meeting on  Thursday, November 21  at the Durango Community Recreation Center.  The open house will begin at 5:00 p.m. followed by a presentation at 5:30 p.m.

Back for it’s 5th Year is the Tellico Huckfest. Jan. 1st 2014 at Noon!
