Final Reno HTTD of 2018

F or the final HTTD of 2018 we headed up to the rapids at Floriston on the Truckee River.  Of course, it was dumping rain up until time to start, then it cleared out and was beautiful.  The rain kept all but the most persistent boaters at home, but we still had a fun race course set up and then Ninkasi beer and prizes from our sponsors:   Mountain Khakis, Astral, IR, Jackson Kayak, Kokatat, Rapid Transit and Accent . See you all on the river and thanks for a great 2018 Home Town Throwdown Season. Noah, Colin and Toby

First Home Town Throw Down of 2018

Water levels are high and so was the energy at Dead Dog Hole for some fun competition. The event starting out with a bang as someone driving by on I-90 called in a kayaker in distress and we were paid a visit by a couple of County Sheriff Deputies that just wanted to make sure everyone was OK. Both declined the offer to jump in some of our spare gear and get out on the water with us

Wenatchee River High Water Event!

Holy blow out!!! As I read the local river gauges this morning, we are looking at: Wenatchee River in Monitor: 18,000 rising 150/hr Wenatchee River in Plain: 12,100 rising 150/hr Icicle Creek: 4,790 rising 30/hr Peshastin Creek: 940 falling 19/hr I have made the executive decision, that since everything is way too high to try and have any sort of order to an event, that I will be in Cashmere at 5:00 pm to go play boating with anyone who would like to join.

2018 Reno HTTD 2

The Second HTTD went down with a big crowd of boaters and friends and family in downtown Reno. Perfect flows and weather made for an excellent showcase for all the latest tricks that everyone had to show.  Scott S won the day with the B.A.

NoliFest 2018 Beat Night Fall BoaterX Results

Photo by Dale Swanson Bristol Motor Speedway was not the only great racing colosseum the weekend of April 13-15 th in the Tri-Cities! # beatnightfall at NoliFest had lots of action in the 8 mile enduro style course down the Nolichucky Gorge. There were a total of 25 athletes in the inaugural event and Shane Benedict cheered from the side as the honorary sweep.  The river level was near 1,400 CFS, which was a decent medium flow for the run from Popular, NC to USA Raft Outpost near Erwin, TN (The site of NoliFest).  The GO FAST event was a mass start at the put-in and first one down to the USA Raft landing was the winner!  The real interesting part of the event was the BoaterX did not start till late in the evening at 7:00 PM, so athletes only had about an hour and a half to complete the course before the ran out of daylight.  Photo by Ryan Horn Athlete’s spirits were high and motivated to go fast when the 3..2..1..GO countdown went down and huge wake was created in the pool at launch!  Rubbing was part to of this BoaterX event as athletes jostled for positions down the course

Down River Endurance Challenge

Good morning Wenatchee Valley paddlers!!! First of all, I would like to thank all of the whitewater boat riders who have participated in the last two weeks of events. The races have been competitive, the drive to perform is apparent, and the Bootjack has been extra tasty, as has the Fanta and Gatorade (Kurt). Secondly, I have been receiving a lot of feedback from the community pertaining to new events that you would all like to see.
