Guys – Choose Your Wife Carefully

I most definitely ‘married up’ as they say. But the icing on the cake is that her dad, Phil, is a welder :-) . Over Christmas we went to Oregon and spent the holidays with my in-laws. I took over a couple of motorcycle wheels I had acquired and my boys and I worked with Phil and whipped together this little gem – a kayak trailer! I put 66″ bars on it, so I think I can get about 5 hardshells on it.

Anyway, I’m pretty jazzed about using it this summer. It will also be able to be pulled by the 4-wheeler, so Troy can pull it to the gutter this summer. Should improve fuel milage on road trips as well since we are hoping to make it to Reno in May and hit Oregons North Umpqua River in mid-June.

Payette River Basin Now A Little Below Average…

Well, precipitation wise the Boise area and Southwestern Idaho started off slow, had a great December and January, and now February has proven to be fairly dry.

This graph shows the details for Banner Summit and the Payette River Basin. Red line is precip this year and the red line is snow-water equivalent. Ornage and lignt-blue represent historical averages.

Unless we have a wet spring (which I’m not crazy about either) we won’t have the banner year we had in 2008, but we still should see some great paddling through the summer.

There are many events planned for the Boise area this year including the Payette River Experience (PRE), the PBR and of course the WorldKayak Hometown Throwdowns. We are even scheduled to have a ‘Survivor Slalom’ thrown in the mix. Hope to see you here!

Winter Paddling In Idaho

Our buddy Mike Copeland of Stone and Water Productions has been paddling all winter and filming some great footage. Catch his website at STONE AND WATER PRODUCTIONS and check out his trailers. There will be a premier of his film here in Boise near the end of march. We’ll keep you posted.

Here is a little bit of the North Fork of the Payette with Seth Stonner, Tanner Griffith (two local teens) and Craig Stonner. Check out the link below!

Idaho : IWA Membership Meeting

Wednesday 4 March 7:00 pm at AIRE Factory

There will be a little different this year. There will be food, BYOB, River Update and raffles. Normally the membership meeting is held in conjunction with an AIRE Factory Open House. This year AIRE will be having an anniversary event on March 7th. So if you are a member, the odds of you winning a Tomcat at the membership meeting are better than ever.

Directions to the Aire factory are HERE!
