Gary – JK Ambassador : Boise Region
I gained a love of the outdoors from my dad. I grew up in Alaska – Dad and I spent most weekends on the
ocean and creeks fishing. I have always been interested in whitewater kayaking, but there was little activity in Juneau. Our move from Alaska to Idaho in 2001 was a ‘God-thing’ and He planted us less than a mile from the Payette River north of Horseshoe Bend. My oldest son and I began paddling in spring 2003.
I believe life is about relationships. This is where paddling and Jackson Kayak really comes
into play for me. Aside from the obvious benefits of whitewater; exercise, excitement, challenge, or just being on a river – paddling provides quality time spent with my family and friends. My boys (12 and 15 years-old) both paddle, as well as my daughters (8 and 6 years-old) and my wife of 20 years, Bonnie.
So if your near Boise and see a truck piled with boats that reminds you of the ‘Beverly-Hillbillies-gone-boatin’ that would be me –stop and say Hi!!
