Two weeks ago (late August 2007) the Idaho River Kids did the South Fork of the Payette. My son Conner got to do his first trip on the river. A really big day for him. Thanks to the efforts of Tom Long and Cascade Kayaking. Bottom photo is Conner “CJ” in Staircase. He pulled off his first big combat roll moments later. At the launch, the kids slide down the ramp and hit the water with a lot of speed. A good start. Instruction was by Tom and Chad Long. Tom has tought thousands of kids how to kayak over many years. Chad is world class when it comes to instruction. The kids love him and so do us parents, he brings them back thrilled and healthy.
