Return from the promised land of the Sierra Madre

At home and still recovering from bug bites and the rash we all managed to pick up. Our trip had many aspects that were epic, including the demise of my much beloved camera. Thankfully I was able to finish the trip shooting in full manual mode and came away with a few keepers. The camera working at all speaks leaps and bounds to the rugged body of the D200, which fell over 20′ and still works to some degree.

We are in the midst of negotiations with an out of the kayaking industry sponsor fou our trips and the Hotel Charley series. The good news is that we have a verbal agreement and are working on the final paperwork. Other good news is that means I wont be forced to “retire” from kayaking for the next year to work at a fast food restaurant or other such standard means of gainful employment to make ends meet. The bad news is that I have to hold back on the photographs for the time being. Instead, here is a little piece of Fordyce Creek.

Last tidbit

Got it all packed up for Mexico and waiting for Ben so we can head to a friends house in SF. Editing a slideshow I’ll be giving at Feather River College this fall, and I put together this sequence of Chris Korbulic. I decided with all the new computers out there, 600 pixels isn’t enough for height, so 800 it is.

Do they all need catchy titles?

Music, such a large part of life. I’m a fan of many different genres of music, although “shoegaze” doesn’t hit it off too often for me. Mirah, on the other hand, while quasi shoegaze has a nice mellow indie rock feel and is worth checking out. Notably “Generosity” to get you hooked.

Kayaking Photo of the Day #41

Cold weather, high water. We got rain but it snowed at the put-in, thankfully we were down on day three at this point.
