Since my first time at the Pit release in ‘06 I’ve been looking to return. Getting to run and rerun an awesome waterfall in warm weather is just so great. We all had an awesome time untl my fifth run.

About to get broken off…

I went for the big drop down the center again, but this time I wanted to be about four feet right of my previous line to avoid the flake. This I did but I was also off axis to the right and found an underwater shelf, breaking my collar bone and giving me an epic beat down in the falls. Still a fun release…

Having a gift certificate to CCK I decided to give these headphones a try. I’ll cut to the chase.
Pros: Waterpoof
Cons: The cord is too short.
Bad sound quality - reminiscent of 99 cent store headphones.
Comfort, nothing special here and they required constant adjustment while playboating.
Overall I’d give them a 4/10 rating. They work, but not exceptionally well.

The Klamath River has recieved a lot of attention lately. The attention hasn’t been due to boating or rapids, but complex water right issues surrounding three dams on the Klamath River and the salmon spawn. With it’s 30 year license being up no one knows what will happen to flows on the Klamath. Meanwhile we enjoyed flows made by power production on the Upper Klamath, a fun big water midsummer run often overlooked by kayakers due to sharp shallow rocks. Still a great run if you don’t roll!

If you put in at the standard kayakers put-in, the Frain Ranch, you get no warm up for this one.

I didn’t get out to get any other pictures due to the read and run IV-IV+ nature of the run, but I was excited with how well my new Punk Rocker handled the big water. I feared it might be too small at 145lbs and another 10lbs of gear, but it handled perfectly in the pushy water.
Further down Caldera….

I’ve had the All-Star out at our local summer playspot, “Schoolhouse” on the Klamath River. The All-Star is the perfect boat for this wave/hole and helps make this mediocre spot really fun. Lots of folks have been trying the All-Star out and they all come out saying “I want one”.
