Hello my name is Jeremy Adkins. I am really open minded, fun loving, outgoing, outdoorsry, and personable. If you know me you know that I love kayaking and am currently sponsored by Jackson Kayaks, Shred ReadyAstral BuoyancyGaia Paddlesports, Snapdragon Design, Stony Boater Paddle Wax and Ophion Paddles. I worked on the Ocoee River raft guiding for 6 years and now teach kayak instruction independantly and for Alabama Small Boats. I started Team rEvolutionMyspace.com/TheTeamrEvolution which is a team of dedicated young kayakers pushing the limits of how kayaking is perceived especially in the Southeast. I am the Co-Founder, Co-Organizer of the North Alabama Whitewater Festival (www.Nawfest.com), Myspace.com/Nawfest, which is the largest kayaking competition/festival in the Southeastern United States and hopefully one day the world. It features everything from five competitive events with some of the best whitewater kayakers in the world,15,000 dollars in prizes, food, glass blowers, tons of live musicians, refreshments, cartoonist, games, Red BullDJ Lee Jeffrey, karaoke machine, inflatable jousting ring, tons of camping, tons of conservation groups, pottery, refloxologists, artistry, massage therapists and so much more you can shake a stick at. You should try and come to one of the fast growing most entertaining outdoor whitewater festivals in the world and share it with some of you own. Go to the website and check it out www.NAWFest.com. I am also working hard on the website called the Triktionary which is the World’s First Online Freestyle Trick Dictionary.  Most of my videos are projects that have already been done. After 18 years of kayaking here I am trying to follow my dream and get paid for what I love most. You might ask yourself what makes a “Professional Kayaker”. Well to be honest I think being a professional is putting every second of your heart and soul into what youfeel is the greatest sport in the world with knowing that you will never be rich you do it because it means something to you in your soul.

Just check it out and then know what we can do. Feel free to email me about kayak lessons and make sure to join my website to get offers on non profit, kids, beginners, playboating, and free kayak clinics as well as contest and giveaways from kayaking sponsors. If you know me and support my dream, just join for me. And go join the myspace for kayakers because Kayakmind.com is awesome.  Make sure to check support American Whitewater because without them we would not have rivers to paddle on.

Home:  Wherever there is water in the southeast but mostly around Locust Fork, AL.

What person do you respect the most? My wife, through all adversity she continues to strive to become a stronger person and pursue her dreams and passions.  Besides she puts up with me through all this computer time.

Who is your hero? I have many heros.
Lance Armstrong (surviving cancer and 6 time champion)
Opie Taylor (having to eat bean pies)
Most of all the people like Pablo Perez, Chuck Kern, Charlie Beavers, Dave Norell, Kyle Stidham, Shane Hulsey, Rick Weiss and Brennan Guth who died doing what they loved the most or died while living the lifestyle they loved most.

What movies/books/comics/TV shows, etc are you into right now? I love Sportscenter and any college basketball, kicking butt at Connect Four

What are you listening to these days? Swollen Members, 311, Jurassic Five, Atmosphere, Blind Melon, Sublime, Zac Brown Band and Nonpoint.  Among those some local Birmingham bands like Branded X, Slave to the Day, Sorry Lee Harvey, Mindtrip and Honey Baked

What was the best concert you attended? 311, favorite band and it was on my birthday

What are some things that motivate you? My friends and I talking trash to each other.

What sports do you enjoy watching or participating in besides your main sport? I love watching and playing basketball. H-o-r-s-e anytime someone wants to play BRING IT! I am in the southeast so I love college football. ROLL TIDE! I enjoy watching snowboarding and surfing, I think we can take alot from how those sports are organized and have made it to the level that they have.

What’s the most fun you’ve ever had while participating in your sport? North Alabama Whitewater Festival (NAWFEST.COM) It was a dream of mine since I was a small kid and with the help of the Bama Boyz it has came to life. There is nothing like watching 50 people one after another either go big or eat it off a twenty foot waterfall.  But really every day is the most fun I have ever had kayaking but if i had to pick one it would surfing Dries with Nick and throwing Air Blunts at the same exact time.

What’s the best trip you’ve ever been on? Canada with Nick or everytime I go to Colorado which always becomes an adventure.

When people look at your life, how would you like to be remembered? Someone that makes people laugh and would give the shirt off his back if you needed it.

What do you view as your biggest accomplishment? Having so many great friends that kayak and having so many that have passed away that I share great memories with.  Kayaking is about making memories.

What advice do you have for other people coming up in your sport? Never stop believing in yourself or the sport, persistance and determination pays off.

One sentence that describes your life: “No Worries”

Hope to see everyone on the river soon.
