A Trip to Newark with Pirates Canoe Club
Apologies for this post being a bit late but I’ve been very busy paddling recently with the recent rainfall we have been having.
This July I was asked if I was able to join Barry from desperate Measures and a collection of guys and girls from the Pirates Canoe Club.
The guys from Pirates Canoe Club, Ashford, Kent made the trip to Nottingham for the weekend only to find out due to the ridiculous jet stream that has hit the UK especially the Midlands that HPP was closed due to flooding. Barry happened to give me a call and ask if Newark would be a good plan, of course we decided so Barry arranged to take the club for a couple of trips to the Weir.
The weather albeit wet was perfect for Newark paddling in the sunshine with the wave in good form allowed the guys to get some practise surfing one of the most unusual features around. I didn’t make the Saturday but popped over and joined them Sunday for a surf. What can I say a great bunch to paddle with! Anyone in the Kent area defiantly check these guys out.
Luckily Mark Jones sent me a ‘small’ selection of many images taken over the two days! Thanks Mark!
