Newark Party Wave Returns!
Ok so its been a long while since I’ve posted anything on here really, super busy at work. Doesn’t mean I haven’t been boating just no time to write up!
We have had a lot of rain recently over Nottingham and it has been very on and off; This week Newark weir came into play. Newark Weir is a UK playspot like no other. It comes in when we have had a few days rain and the River Trent (Nottingham, UK) rises to between 1.8 – 2.4 metres on the Colwick gauge (http://www.environment-agency.gov.uk/homeandleisure/floods/riverlevels/120752.aspx?stationId=2102) Once up Newark forms a decent playwave suitable for surfing all day long, Blunts, spins and whatever else you feel you can do!
Newark is suitable for beginners due to the nature of the feature, it is fast yet forgiving yet has a large pool behind to mop up.
I have been visiting since I was 14 yrs old and always return, it brings back happy memories and still provides many new ones!
Anyway if you haven’t been and get chance for a surf at Newark then get involved you won’t be disappointed.
After receiving some bad news regarding a good friend and paddling buddy it was a great way to take my mind off recent events and remember why I love this sport and the people so much!
Hope you enjoy the photos
