Final Reno HTTD of 2018

james wrote 118 days ago:

For the final HTTD of 2018 we headed up to the rapids at Floriston on the Truckee River.  Of course, it was dumping rain up until time to start, then it cleared out and was beautiful.  The rain kept all but the most persistent boaters at home, but we still had a fun race course set up and then Ninkasi beer and prizes from our sponsors:   Mountain Khakis, Astral, IR, Jackson Kayak, Kokatat, Rapid Transit and Accent.

See you all on the river and thanks for a great 2018 Home Town Throwdown Season.

Noah, Colin and Toby

As the snow in the Sierras started melting and filling our rivers we transitioned from freestyle to creek racing for our Reno HTTDs.  Last Wednesday saw a fun crew take 2 runs down a 2-3 min course on the Truckee River’s Floriston Rapids.  Colin and I set up a fun course that involved a switch section and tough S-Turn maneuver.  Toby kept things going as the sun was setting and everyone improved on their second run over their first.

2014 Squirtboat Mystery World Championship

2014 Mystery Move World Championships

The 2014 Mystery World Championships went off without a hitch this weekend on the Truckee River in CA.  Although we knew Swallow Cliffs was a really smooth spot, none of us could have predicted the potential for downtime here.

I started the competition off, as the finder of the spot I had the honors.  On my second ride I broke the record for mysteries in competition with a 40.9 second mystery.  That was quickly broken 6 more times in the next heat with both Jeremy P. and Kirby E. having 46 second rides and Stephen W. destroying it with a 49.1 second mystery.  With only five rides and one of them having to be an offside entry, it was critical to be consistent since all rides count toward the total.  In the end Jeremy P. beat out Stephen by 1.24 seconds with 3 rides over 40 seconds.

It was a great event and we would like to thank the sponsors:

World Kayak, NINKASI Brewing, Kokatat, IR, Stony Boater, Mountain Khakis, SinkSpots.org, Sweetcharc.com, Jackson Kayak, GoPro, Astral, SMITH, and Shred Ready

Enjoy the video and pictures

See you next year
