Overmountain Outdoors Special Event!

Do you love paddling in the summer and want to keep it going in the winter? But you’re not too sure what it takes to do it safely?  Overmountain Outdoors and Wesley R. Bradley are teaming up to offer a FREE clinic on how to properly outfit yourself for cold water & winter paddling.  Join us on Thursday, November 19th, 2015 at Overmountain Outdoors and learn how to dress for paddling success in cold weather!  Clinic starts at 7:00 – 8:00 P.M.

Many paddlers have the misconception that after the leaves fall off the trees, that boats get stored till the flowers come back out.  The fact of the matter is in the southeast winter and early spring host some of our areas best paddling, especially in whitewater!

We will be showcasing many products from Immersion Research & Kokatat during the clinic.  We will give tips and tricks on proper use and care of many products you can use to keep you toasty warm in the cold weather.

You may want to bring your own folding chair to the clinic, because seating is limited at the store.

Kayak Ramp at the Sarapiqui River Festival
The Sarapiqui River Festival began 3 years ago as a collaboration between Chilamate Rainforest and World Class Kayak Academy as a way to give back to the local community and get the local kids on the river and in boats and as a day to celebrate the Sarapiqui River in a safe family environment.
This year, 2013, is the River Festivals 3rd year and this year the organisation was taken on by a local organisation Chilamate Activo together with the hard work and logistical coordination of World Kayak Costa Rican Ambassador Davis Azofeifa (owner of Chilamate Rainforest Eco Retreat), and a great number of local and international sponsors and supporters including: World Kayak, Selva Whitewater, Tropical Duckies, Sarapiqui Outdoor Center, Aventuras del Sarapiqui, Rios Lagos y Mares, World Class Kayak Academy, Ferreteria el Tucan, Super Malibu, World Leadership School and Lago Jalapa, and the local firefighters and red cross.
This years Festival kicked off on Saturday the 23rd of November with an extreme creek race and peaked on Sunday the 24th with an inclusive Sarapiqui down river race and the RAMP!!! Attendance was higher than ever. Great food and local artwork abound. PURA VIDA!! We hope to see you next year!!

Hey folks. Just wanted to take a second and remind you that if you’re interested in helping out with the planning phase for our Nashville World Kayak winter series, the meeting is tonight  at 730pm CST in the Outdoor Learning Room at REI in Brentwood, TN.

Clear Creek Boater X

All are welcome here, just see me when you get there so we can get you on the volunteer list. The purpose of this meeting is to secure the final details for the event series. Last year it was all pretty unorganized, so we plan to fix that problem this year. Of course, with more people involved, it will be harder as well so just bear with us! Cool?

So, I can’t wait to see who shows up at REI this Wednesday, Dec 11th, 2013, at 730pm CST. Click on this link for REI’s address. We will have hot coffee, tea and snacks available for your enjoyment.

Big thanks to my local sponsors, The Tennessee Scenic Rivers Association, World Kayak, WeStroke, Walden’s Ridge Whitewater, The Outdoor Experience, and Bellyak, as well as all of our awesome World Kayak sponsors, Shred Ready, Immersion Research, Jackson Kayak, GoPro, Ninkasi Brewery, Stonyboater Paddle Wax, Kokatat, Astral, Chaco, Smith Optics, Mountain Khaki, and Rapid Transit. Thanks everyone!
