House Run Time Trials!

Good morning, Wenatchee Valley!!

It is an incredible day to be alive in this world, surrounded by all of these beautiful people. The sun is shining, the river is on the way up, and the stoke is high.

I would like to thank everyone again for your continued attendance to our weekly events. It makes a huge difference in my event planning morale when 16 paddlers show up to a race as opposed to 2, so lets keep it up!

Last week we tested our abilities on a long distance endurance race. I was really impressed with how small the intervals between finishes were. For a 3.98 mile race (Thanks Darren), the time difference between the first and last finishers was only 2:59. So nice job out there. Everyone is getting strong!

This evening, I am bringing yet another race format to the river. In interest of reaching deep and drawing out all of the self drive we can muster, we’re going short and fast, but all by ourselves. Today’s Wednesday World Kayak Event is…

House Run Time Trials!

Starting at the Osprey Rafting put in, just west of Leavenworth, we will get a quick warm up lap in so everyone can scope their lines. If you want to put in below exit, that is fine, just don’t swim.

For lap two, we will stage paddlers in the eddy in some order that we have previously decided on. Paddlers will take off from the starting line in one minute intervals. It is important that we are ready to hustle and be ready when it is your turn because the timing system relies on it. Each paddler will be provided their course time after everyone has competed.

This event is going to be rather quick, because, afterwards we’re having a BBQ throw down at my place on East Leavenworth Road. Bring salads, chips, beer, soda, pasta, whatever sounds good! I would appreciate it if people would post what they are bringing so we don’t end up with 20 bags of Juanitas Tortilla chips.

If you cannot make the paddling event, please come hang out anyway! Feel free to bring your girl, your kid, your dog, or just yourself.

Paddlers, meet at the Icicle Bridge at 5:00!

Any questions? Holler at me.

Love,

T-Pot!

Third Amigo Head to Head Races

bozemankayaker wrote 192 days ago:

Good morning Wenatchee Valley!!
I know its been a long week of anticipation since our last World Kayak Wednesday, but I’m about to drop it like its hot!
Last Wednesday, we had 15 competitors show up to paddle in a torrential downpour. As I look out over Leavenworth this morning, it’s looking pretty damn bluebird out there. The river levels are up, the greens and blossoms are starting to pop, and it is just looking really awesome up here in Bavaria right now.
So, without boring you with more BS about how rad of a day it is in Leavenworth, here you go. Todays World Kayak Wednesday event is…
Third Amigo Head to Head Races!!!
This is a classic event in the Spring community event series and the water levels are working out perfect right now.
The event rules are as follows:
Upon arrival of participants, names of present competitors will be drawn and paired in twos. This will be a bracket format event where competitors will races two at a time and the victor of each race will continue to the next heat. The loser can practice their roll in an eddy.
The race will start in the river right eddy above the Third Amigo, and end at some point below the rapid that I decide on later.
We will meet at the Castle Rock parking lot at 5:00 pm.
If you are feeling like the Third Amigo at current flows may be too difficult for you, this is a great opportunity to get on the water with several experienced paddlers and work your way through the rapid with more safety than you’ll know what to do with. After the races are over, there will be plenty of time to practice lines and get a couple casual laps on the Third Amigo.
I am stoked to see everyone tonight! Bring your game face!
Love,
T-Pot

Pool Sessions are back!

bozemankayaker wrote 884 days ago:

Starting Sunday, June 5th, kayakers will have access to the Leavenworth City Pool from 4:00-5:30 pm every Sunday through the end of August. The cost is $5 for pool access. There may or may not be boats available for use so it is always a good idea to bring your own gear, especially since that is what you will be going down the river in! Everyone is welcome so bring your friends, bring your kids, bring your mom! All participants under the age of 18 will need to have a parent or guardian PRESENT in order to participate. I’m stoked to get these going again and to get everyone some real solid flat water practice time! Don’t forget about kayak polo, which usually consumes the last half hour of the session, or until everyone is totally exhausted. Start putting your teams together. See everyone in a couple weeks!!
