Truckee River Clean Up Sept 30

The cleanup will run from 9AM-12PM over 17 sites throughout Reno and Sparks (some of those sites are in-river and one is UNR students only, but those aren’t listed on our volunteer page yet).
Also, people who volunteer for this cleanup are invited to the post-cleanup volunteer appreciation BBQ (12:30pm-3pm). Our project leaders will tell the volunteers details about the BBQ at the beginning of the cleanup. We don’t give the details out right away because unfortunately, some people try to score the free BBQ without actually volunteering.

Lower Watauga River Cleanup

We have extra canoes for this if anyone wants one just let me or Ruben Creek know.Trout Unlimited’s Overmountain Chapter is conducting the third annual Bill Beazell Memorial Cleanup on March 25, 2017 from 9:00 am to noon.

The cleanup is in association with the 1st Annual Tailwater Roundup, an effort by local conservation organizations and fishing-industry participants to improve visitors’ enjoyment and stewardship of our local rivers.

Interested participants can meet at:

For Bank Cleanup: 9:00AM Watauga River Bluffs State Natural Area (3511 Steam Plant Rd, Watauga, TN).

For River Float Cleanup: 9:00AM Ingles Parking Lot, 768 W Elk Ave, Elizabethton, TN 37643

Gloves, bags and tools will be provided.  Please bring waders or other clothes you don’t mind getting wet.

All participants at the Watauga River Bluffs will eligible for participation prizes, including an Orvis sling pack, Orvis Brodin net, OMTU fly boxes, and gift certificates to local restaurants.  You must be present to win.

Then, at 4:00 pm, all cleanup participants from the Tailwater Roundup can meet at the Weir Dam Parking on the South Holston River where they will be treated to food and drinks.  An additional participation raffle will be held for all participants but attendance is not required to win. It should be a great day!

And please wear your APE’s T-shirt!

Location: U.S.A. Raft, 2 Jones Branch Rd, Erwin TN

Time: 10:00 A.M.

Directions to USA Raft Nolichucky River:

When using a GPS system, you will receive a prompt asking if you would like to avoid unpaved roads. Please select “no” you would not like to avoid unpaved roads. Our outpost is at the end of a gravel drive.

The Nolichucky River is about 50 miles from Asheville, NC (50 min.) and 1.5 hours from the Boone, Blowing Rock and Banner Elk area of the high country in NC.

USA Raft Nolichucky River: Physical address: 2 Jones Branch Road. Erwin, TN 37650.

Once you arrive at Jones Branch Road, you will see the river on your right. Please continue 1.2 miles along this road. We are located at the end of the road.
