Right now I’m paddling a Dagger Mamba 8.5 I love the boat and will hold onto it as long as I’m doing whitewater. However, it has rather limited abilities as a playboat. I’m not someone who is super brave in advancing in the sport, I’m pretty slow and cautious. But in my weekly pool sessions I’m getting rather bored with the Mamba, I want to start working on some playboating. I also plan on spending some time at the whitewater course up in South Bend. I plan on working with the Mamba quite a bit, but also want to work on some playboating.
So I’m debating. I tried out a Jackson Super Fun last Feb, the 07 model. So far it has been the only playboat that I’ve sat in that didn’t hurt and didn’t lose circulation. I really liked it. So I’m sold on Jackson and have been leaning towards the Super Fun. However, I’ve been wondering if I would be better off getting a Super Star. I don’t plan on doing anything big, just the pool and the whitewater course until I build up my confidence. I’m probably going to use the Mamba for most of my river running. So I’m thinking why get a river running playboat, just go with the playboat since I have the river runner.
Anyone out there with any thoughts?

there is a whitewater park in south bend? IN?
My grandparents live in Indy.
Anyway, have you tried a Project 62 or 52? Not that i dont like Jk boats, but there are others that can have footbags and booty bags put in them. I would suggest a full on play boat, I have a Fun my self and that is my river runner, however, it is a bit long for shallow play spots. If you are starting out in a pool with the boat then you don’t have to worry about it being to loose or to quick on a wave, just take it easy with a fullon play boat, which ever is comfy, and chill in the pool till you feel like hitting flow. then come to Charlotte and we will hit the park!
If I could have a boat for every occasion… I would. I totally would. Yeah, if you already have a good river runner, just get the playboat. The Star series is pretty much top-of-the-line, according to everything I’ve heard. Me, I’m probably going to get a Fun, because it has the crossover capabilities that I’m looking for.
