While it certainly *looks* nice, it’s really amazing to *paddle* with it. While I certainly wont give up my carbon paddles for training and racing, the Backlund Paddle has such a great feel in the water that I can’t imagine not using for just about everything else. It’s pull is so smooth and it feels more “alive” than composite blades. I also really noticed a difference while surfing (it rutters really nicely).
Keith was able to completely customize it for me — even so far as to have different shaft thickness between the left and right sides. Definitely a treat, and definitely worth the time, money, and effort involved with getting a true all-wood Backlund.
