HYBRID MARINE’S 1st Kayak Poker Run for the Canadian Alzheimer’s Society – CReW was there :)
Last year Sylvie and I made arrangements with Blair Bell form Hybrid Marine for a place to teach the SKIP kayak program and also private kayak lessons. Since then our relationship with Blair and his business has grown and is flourishing. CReW brings him customers when parents watch their kids paddle and he returns the favor with new kayak owners taking a safe boating class with us. Some go on to more classes but they all leave us with the basics.
On Saturday July 24th 2010 Hybrid Marine hosted their first Annual Poker Run for Charity. The funds raised went to the Canadian Alzheimer’s Society. 28 paddlers came out on the warm but overcast day to paddle a 2 hour course and pick up playing cards along the way. Each participant brought with them the money they raised for the event and after the paddling was done they sat down for a barbecue while Blair counted each poker hand.
CReW was there to provide on water safety and hand out cards at some of the stations. We also donated a few sweet prizes.
In the end over 1000 dollars was raised by 28 paddlers and everyone had a great time.
Blair, Thanks for inviting us to be a part of this one.
We will definitely be doing this one again. Great fun, great people and a great cause.
See you on the water,
Robert Zwanenburg.
